QuestionNext step
Do you meet the current intended-use requirements?Check the manufacturer label before comparing app features.
Is your exact phone supported? Both offer iOS and Android; check the specific model and OS.
Which app will you use?Compare Stelo for Oura integration and Lingo for Lingo Count and habit challenges.

Choose Stelo to explore its official Oura integration; compare Lingo if its Lingo Count and habit challenges suit you. First confirm eligibility and your exact phone. Android is no longer a reason to rule out Lingo. This short selector complements our full Stelo vs Lingo buying comparison.

1. Does the Intended Use Fit You?

The current US Stelo label describes adults 18 and older who are not on insulin, and excludes problematic hypoglycemia. That can include some adults with type 2 diabetes who do not use insulin; “OTC” does not mean “only for people without diabetes.” Medical decisions require professional guidance.

Abbott’s current Lingo information also describes users 18 and older not on insulin and says the system is not intended for disease diagnosis. Read the current full safety information for the device you are considering.

2. Is Your Exact Phone Supported?

Both manufacturers now offer compatible iOS and Android apps. Use Stelo’s compatibility checker and Lingo’s device list. Check the model and operating-system version, not just the brand. An unsupported phone is a reason to pause the purchase.

3. What Will You Actually Do with the Data?

  • Already use Oura: compare Stelo’s documented Oura integration, including membership and hardware requirements.
  • Want Lingo’s habit tools: compare its Lingo Count, logging and challenges. These features are not proof of better clinical outcomes.
  • Only want simple glucose numbers: review both current apps. Stelo now describes coaching features, so the old “Stelo is data-only” distinction is outdated.
  • No clear question to answer: start with ordinary activity and nutrition habits rather than assuming ongoing monitoring is necessary.

When to Skip Both

If you use insulin, need low-glucose alerts, or have symptoms that need diagnosis, ask a qualified clinician about appropriate care. If monitoring causes distress or restrictive eating, discuss that before buying. An unsupported phone or no plan to use the information is also a reason to wait.
